Job Description:
We are a small but fast-paced artisanal manufacturing studio located in NE Portland. We’re looking for a studio production assistant to join our team. This job will involve a mixture of teamwork & solo production. Hours may fluctuate depending on seasonal needs.
Primary Job Duties:
- Casting & finishing work on our line of playful cement sculptures
- Detailed hand tool work, brush work & pigment application
- Machine & hand-sanding
- Mold prep & cleaning
- General studio maintenance
This position has physical demands requiring lifting up to 60 pounds and a variety of repetitive processes, such as casting, sanding, buffing etc. Work includes a mixture of standing and sitting. We’re willing to train the right person, so if you have experience working with your hands in a similar field and feel that you’d be a good fit, we want to hear from you.
What we’re looking for: Dependable self-motivated team player. Must have a strong eye for detail, desire to create consistent results in production and ability to adhere to high quality control standards. Capacity to take direction/constructive criticism in stride. Must be comfortable with multi-tasking and be adaptable to evolving procedures and priorities. 1-2 years of previous sculpture & casting experience in a production environment and an eye for color is strongly preferred. Experience packaging/shipping, woodworking and/or social media content generation (Instagram, blog posts etc.) are an added bonus but not necessary.
