Self-care in the workplace is important for maintaining good physical and mental health. Starting small is okay, but whatever routines you start, challenge yourself to keep them going, then when you're ready, take another small step towards your goals.
Create space for self care every day
Making time for self-care each and every day is important for our well-being. Here are some tips for creating space for self-care:
- Schedule Self Care Time for Yourself Make it a priority by scheduling it into your daily routine. This could be as simple as setting aside 1-15 minutes a day for meditation, yoga, or reading. The most important thing is that you just do it!
- Identify Potential Self-Care activities Think about the activities that help you feel relaxed and rejuvenated, and make time for them. This could be anything from taking a bath, creating art or going for a walk in nature. Don't try to pile too much on- start small and simple, then build a daily routine from there.
- Practice mindfulness Being present in the moment can help you feel more grounded and centered. Try incorporating mindfulness practices such as deep breathing or body scans into your daily routine.
- Set boundaries Say no to things that drain your energy and make you feel overwhelmed. Setting boundaries allows you to prioritize your own needs and make space for self-care. This can take practice, so don't loose heart and keep trying if you have trouble with this one.
Remember, self-care is not selfish, it is necessary for our physical, emotional, and mental well-being.
